Why I Chose the Broaddict TrailDeck Over the OEM Tailgate for My 2021 Bronco

I ordered the broaddict traildeck tailgate accessory for my 2021 Bronco, as like many buyers I was not able to purchase the OEM tailgate accessory when my Bronco came out and it is priced very high for purchase aftermarket. I was interested in the TrailDeck when I first saw it because it looked like it had better utility than the OEM tailgate, especially compared to a typical ford bronco slide out tailgate, because of the storage and the level deck it creates with the back seat, so when it went on sale over the holiday I decided to give it a try.

My initial impressions are: The packaging was very good to protect the tailgate during shipment. They even put one use steel bars to keep the rails straight in shipment.

Instructions were fairly clear. There was tape that was supplied with the tailgate that is supposed to go on the walls to protect. It is unclear if they want this to remain after installation, I have left it in place for now.

The deck is solid and heavy, it is easier to maneuver with 2 people as recommended by the instructions. I initially installed as per the manual, but I ended up cutting holes and putting my OEM mat between the tailgate and the metal of the truck to keep some dirt collection. I think this will work out well. Some trial and error with this, but overall it feels more functional than most bronco cargo slide setups I’ve seen.

I currently have the handle off because I have the OEM tailgate table on my swing gate. It barely fits, but I am looking forward to upgrading.

Overall the storage is very good, but there could always be more space. I understand they wanted to make the deck level with the seats folded down, which makes sense for real world use. The operation of the tailgate and the drawer are smooth. The install seems strong. Among the ford bronco accessories. I’ve added so far, this one stands out. I would buy this again and recommend it at this point, looking forward to using it on my next trip.

Future recommendations:

  • Tape along the sides seems insufficient, or the manual should be updated to tell the user to remove it after install if it is meant to be temporary.
  • A rubber moulded mat for between the tailgate and the truck, with access to protect paint and still access the built in storage, would be a nice product to add.
  • A “deep” version would be good for more tool storage volume, maybe around 4 inches or so, to fit recovery gear better. This would be a great addition looking ahead to future bronco accessories 2025 options.
