The Ultimate Bronco Audio Hack: How the TrailDeck Saved My Stereo Build
I wanted to share my experience with the BROADDICT TrailDeck Slide Out Tailgate that I purchased on March 6, 2026, because honestly, this turned into one of those unexpected upgrade stories where everything just somehow worked out perfectly.
First a little background; I drive a 2023 Ford Bronco Wildtrak (4-door), and probably like most Bronco owners I’m always searching the web and scrolling Bronco6G forums for the newest accessories, latest modifications and other ways to just “Pimp my Ride”!!! I have already done a handful of the basic upgrades (tint front windows, installed bull bar, grab handles, short antenna, mole panels, etc. etc.). I even picked up the tailgate table from BROADDICT prior to this and use it all the time……so I was already familiar with their products and quality.
While browsing their site one day, I came across the TrailDeck Slide Out Tailgate. It immediately caught my attention. The idea of having a slide-out trunk for easier loading and unloading is appealing on its own, but what really stood out to me was how it levels out the cargo area when the rear seats are down. That would be perfect for camping and road trips—just being able to throw in an air mattress and lay completely flat.
That said, I wasn’t quite ready to pull the trigger on that yet. There was another, more pressing upgrade I was fixated on and wanted to take care of first…
If you own a 2024 Bronco with the non-B&O sound system and with the sub delete, you already know—the stock audio is just plain WACK!!! Fixing that is basically priority #1. So I shifted my focus toward upgrading the entire stereo system.
After months of research, I finally dialed in exactly what I wanted: new speakers, subwoofer, and amplifiers. I found a highly reviewed shop close by to handle the install, so I bought all the components, and booked my appointment. I was ready to rock!!!
Then Install day comes, and I get that dreaded call: “We’ve got good news and bad news…”
You already know how that goes.
Good news first—the speakers and subwoofer went in flawlessly. No issues at all. Huge win.
Then came the bad news. The amplifier and DSP I chose wouldn’t fit anywhere we had planned. Not in the rear cargo side panel, not under the front seats, not under the rear seats, not even under the center console. The equipment was just too big to fit hidden away anywhere in the Bronco.
The installer recommended that we just mount everything in the middle of the trunk/cargo area, directly behind the rear seats, and then build a box to cover it and protect it.
OOF!!! That was… not ideal.
I use my cargo area constantly—for camping gear, beach trips, road trips, and just everyday hauling. Having a permanent box sitting in the middle of the trunk was going to be a major inconvenience.
So now I’m standing there thinking… what do I do? And then it hit me.
The TrailDeck!
I pulled up the product page right there and started checking dimensions. The drawer height is 4.5 inches. My amp and DSP? About 2.5 inches tall.
This. Could. Work.
The only problem was the bottom drawer—it would interfere with the equipment. I started thinking through options. I could order the TrailDeck without the bottom shelf, but that defeats part of the purpose since the drawer is such a great storage feature.
Then it hit me: what if I mounted the amp and DSP in the center of the cargo area, like the installer wanted, but then I cut out a section of the TrailDeck drawer to fit around them? That way, I’d still get full use of the slide and keep the equipment hidden and protected.
I called my installer, sent him the link, and ran the idea by him. After a quick conversation, we both thought—it was totally doable.
That call ended at 4:30 PM.
By 4:39 PM, my order for the TrailDeck Slide Out Tailgate was placed on BROADDICT’s website. Free shipping too, which was a nice bonus.
Now here’s where things just start falling in line perfectly….
The next morning, I wake up to an email sent at midnight saying my order had already shipped. Ok, sweet!
Then at 9 AM, I get another notification: out for delivery. Wow!
I honestly didn’t believe it.
But sure enough, at 11:45 AM, I get the delivery confirmation email and text. Less than 24 hours from ordering to delivery. That’s wild!
I left work on my lunch break, picked it up, and drove it straight to the installer. From idea to execution in under 19 hours. I still can’t believe how fast that all came together.
Later that day, I get another call from the shop:
“Dude… we’re in business.”
Everything worked exactly as planned. They mounted the amp and DSP in the center, modified the drawer with a clean cutout, and the TrailDeck functioned perfectly around it.
I picked up the Bronco the next afternoon, and it was exactly what I had hoped for.
The new stereo sounds amazing—night and day difference. And the TrailDeck? Absolute game changer.
Not only does it give me that easy slide-out access for loading and unloading, but it also solved a major problem with my audio install in a way I never expected. The cargo area is clean, functional, and still fully usable. No random humps or bumps in the middle of my trunk!!!
The drawer modification came out great, and everything feels solid and well-built.
For anyone considering BROADDICT’s TrailDeck Slide Out Tailgate, I highly recommend it. Whether you’re looking for better organization, easier access, or even a creative solution like mine, it’s an incredibly versatile product.
Now, to be completely honest, there is one downside I ran into.
The BROADDICT TrailDeck is not compatible with the current BROADDICT Tailgate Table. I had to remove my table in order to install the TrailDeck. I even tried removing the handle on the TrailDeck to try to make it work, but the tailgate table is just too thick for both to be installed together.
That said, the good news is that BROADDICT is already aware of this and is currently working on an updated version of the tailgate table that will be fully compatible with the TrailDeck. I believe that should be available around April or May of this year.
So now it’s just a waiting game.
All in all, with the new stereo system and the installation of the TrailDeck, this ended up being one of the most satisfying upgrades I’ve done to my Bronco…..so far!
